In 2023 we took a leap of faith.

Hi, I’m Julia Teichroeb, co-founder of Just Call Joe Inspections and JCJ Residential Services, and I want to share our story with you.
In 2023, Joe and I found ourselves at a big transition. Joe had been taking courses with ICA (Inspection Certification Associates) to further his knowledge of buildings and construction for his current role. What started as a way to enhance his skills in construction management ended up leading him to become a certified home inspector. At the same time, I was finishing up my time at Assiniboine College, getting ready to graduate. But then, out of nowhere, Joe got laid off. It was a tough moment, but we decided to take it as a sign that it was time to start something new—something we could build together. And as if life wasn’t already busy enough, we were also about to welcome our second child into the world. In fact, we booked our very first home inspection while we were in the hospital waiting for our daughter to be born. It was a whirlwind, but we were ready to dive in headfirst.
So, we started Just Call Joe Inspections. Joe continued to work as a home inspector in Westman full-time, and we built the foundation of a business focused on providing high-quality, reliable home inspections. But as we worked with more clients, we quickly realized there was a major gap in the market. We noticed a pattern: people were struggling with home maintenance, small repairs, and renovations. It wasn’t that they didn’t care about their homes, it was that they didn’t have the time, knowledge, or resources to keep up with it all.
That’s when we had the idea to create JCJ Residential Services.
This is where the two businesses really differ. While Just Call Joe Inspections focuses on home inspections, helping buyers and sellers understand the condition of a property, JCJ Residential Services is about offering hands-on help with small repairs, maintenance, and renovations for homeowners. We wanted to fill the gap for people who just didn’t have the time or ability to keep up with home maintenance and small tasks around the house. We started this service for busy families, single people, and aging individuals who needed help with things like fixing leaky faucets, patching drywall, and maintaining their homes—but didn’t know where to turn.
In June 2024, we officially launched JCJ Residential Services, and since then, we’ve expanded multiple times to serve communities across Westman—Brandon, Souris, Alexander, Virden, Rivers, Shilo, Wawanesa, and beyond. It’s been an exciting and humbling journey to see how many people in our community need these services.
My dad and grandpa were both handymen, and growing up, I didn’t think I’d ever follow in their footsteps. But over time, I realized it’s not just about fixing things; it’s about the people. It’s about helping families keep their homes safe, functional, and enjoyable. It’s about making life a little easier for the people we work with, and seeing the impact we can make.
I want to take a moment to say thank you. If you’ve trusted us with your home inspection or home maintenance, we truly appreciate you. You’ve helped us grow, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve you and your families.
We’re excited for the future, and we’re committed to continuing to make a positive impact in your lives. Whether it’s through a detailed home inspection or helping with those little repairs and tasks around the house, we’re here for you, and we can’t wait to keep doing this work together.
